After violent rains ravaged the Emilie-Romagne region, where the Imola circuit is located, the Grand Prix was cancelled in order not to put more pressure on emergency services. Several drivers, including Red Bull drivers, Carlos Sainz in a video message, Esteban Ocon, and George Russell, showed their support for the victims in the Northern Italian region via their Twitter accounts.

A pilot, however, stood out. Indeed, Yuki Tsunoda has been living in the Faenza region, where his team is based, since the end of his first Formula 1 season. The Japanese driver has witnessed firsthand the devastation caused by the rising waters.

Through his Twitter account, the Japanese driver reports on the situation in the affected area. Alongside a video and a photo of a street covered in mud, the Japanese driver writes: “After a horrible night, the city is heavily impacted: dust, mud, and the smell of gasoline everywhere. Currently, people are struggling to find food and, most importantly, places to stay after many have been evacuated from their own homes. Please, any help you can provide will be welcome,” concludes Tsunoda.

Tsunoda also added a QR code to his tweet to facilitate money donations. Stefano Domenicali announced that Formula 1 will also be collecting money for the victims of the natural disaster. This includes special consideration for AlphaTauri employees.
