Thanks to his recent successes in F1, with two consecutive driver championships under his belt and a new exceptional contract with Red Bull binding him to the team until 2028, Verstappen earned $64 million from May 2022 to May 2023, according to the American publication.

However, the Dutchman is still far behind Kylian Mbappé, who dominates the rankings. The footballer from the French national team and Paris Saint-Germain is said to have earned 120 million dollars in the same period, with 20 million coming from off-field income such as sponsorship deals and image rights.

On the second step of the podium is NFL star Kyler Murray, who earned 70.5 million dollars in the last 12 months. The top 5 is completed by Manchester City striker Erling Haaland ($52 million) and Dallas Mavericks basketball player Luka Doncic ($47.2 million).

A previous analysis from the prestigious Forbes magazine dated November 2021 ranked Verstappen as the highest-paid Formula 1 driver. In that year, the Dutchman seized this particular crown from Lewis Hamilton, who had been ranked as the highest-paid driver in the sport every year since 2013.
