Otmar Szafnauer defends himself after the criticisms of Laurent Rossi
Alongside the Monaco Grand Prix, the director of Alpine F1 admitted that pressure is an integral part of his job following the criticisms from the boss of the French brand.

At the beginning of May, the head of the Alpine brand, Laurent Rossi, made severe criticisms of his Formula 1 team following a disappointing start to the season, according to him. When asked to comment on these remarks, Otmar Szafnauer acknowledged that the new Enstone organization still needed time to settle in.
The changes at the factory are being integrated. It’s just a matter of always working hard. Delivering the best performance takes time, but it will come. I’ve been here for a year and a half. I now understand how the team operates. The plan is in place.
In response to the question of whether he feels under pressure as the primary person responsible for the team’s results, the American leader doesn’t hesitate to say that Formula 1 and pressure cannot be dissociated.
« Am I under pressure? We are in Formula 1, so we are constantly under pressure. Except maybe Red Bull, who is only satisfied with what is happening. I repeat, we need time, but the results will be there soon,» concludes Szafnauer.
