Sergio Pérez apologizes after his crash in Q1 at Monaco
After his accident during the first part of the qualifying session in Monaco, Sergio Pérez expressed his regrets and apologized to his team.

Nicknamed the “king of cities” after his recent victories in Jeddah and Baku, Sergio Pérez will struggle to impose himself on a third different urban circuit this season, today in Monaco. The Mexican crashed in the Sainte-Dévote turn during Q1, putting him in last position on the starting grid.
(I) I am very disappointed in myself today. Everything was going well, I was happy with the balance at the beginning of Q1 and I was making progress by pushing the limits. (F) Probably too optimistic behind the wheel of the RB19, Max Verstappen’s teammate saw his session end after just a few minutes.
(I) I can’t believe what I’ve done. This mistake is really hard to digest, I don’t know what to say. I am just sorry for the team, they don’t deserve this. We should have been in the leading pack, it was a great opportunity to seize, regrets Pérez.
Projecting himself onto the race, the Red Bull driver knows that his task will be difficult to move up towards the front: If it’s a normal race, it will be complicated to do something during the race. I have a fast car but it’s almost impossible to overtake with these wide cars. It will be difficult to make progress but we will try everything.
Currently second in the championship, 14 points behind his teammate, Pérez might see the gap between him and Verstappen widen after the Monaco race.
