Lewis Hamilton: “A good result and a great improvement as a team”
Fourth in Monaco, Lewis Hamilton finished just behind Esteban Ocon's Alpine after a race marked by tricky conditions due to the rain.

Lewis Hamilton had a smile on his face after the Monaco Grand Prix. Even though he fell just short of the podium, the seven-time world champion is pleased with a good result for himself and his team, while also acknowledging the improvements made by Brackley.
It’s a good result. A nice improvement as a team, a good step forward. It was a challenging race, but since yesterday we have done good work as a team. We applied a good strategy that allowed us to finish ahead of the Ferraris. The car has made progress with the upgrades. I won’t tell you much more, but I think overall it’s a good step forward.
In the second part of the race, when the rain made its presence felt on the streets of the Principality, Hamilton took all precautions to stay on track.
When the rain came, we had to be very careful to bring the intermediate tires up to temperature. Our pace was good. It was difficult but we didn’t make any mistakes. At the beginning of the relay on intermediates, the tires were like ice. Then they started working and it became easier.
The Mercedes driver projected himself towards the next race in Barcelona by mentioning the removal of the chicane in turn 13 and the return to the old track layout.
I will be happy to see the old layout of Barcelona again. I didn’t like that chicane, I never did. After turn 12, it will be flat out to the finish line. I’ll have to train my neck well.
Hamilton solidifies his fourth place in the championship with 69 points now on his tally.
