Lando Norris explains how Daniel Ricciardo helped him improve

Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo were teammates for two seasons at McLaren. While the results may not have always been there on the sports side, especially for the Australian, Lando Norris is satisfied with the arrival of the former Red Bull driver.

The Brit believes that Daniel Ricciardo was able to help him at the right moment, notably by pushing him to his limits. Even though the now reserve driver at Red Bull had difficulty establishing himself and performing, Lando Norris thinks that he taught him a lot.

Lando Norris continued to compare his current teammate with Daniel Ricciardo, particularly regarding the pace displayed by the two drivers. In terms of pace, Oscar Piastri is much closer to me than Daniel Ricciardo was. Sometimes, he is even faster, said Lando Norris.

For the British driver, both drivers have helped him, or are helping him equally, but in different ways. Daniel Ricciardo has not necessarily competed with Lando Norris on the track, or not as much as he wished, but the McLaren driver believes that the Australian has brought a lot to his personal development.

« Daniel Ricciardo was still faster in some races. He pushed me in many different ways. I think his experience and mindset were crucial for me to become a better person, a better driver,» Lando Norris said.

For the British, Oscar Piastri is still more competitive and helps in another way. This pace of the Australian rookie allows Lando Norris to push, to bring out the best in himself and his car, in order to stay ahead of his teammate.

« «Oscar is very close to me in terms of rhythm. He is closer more often, and more consistent than Daniel was. On track, he pushes me more than Ricciardo did,» declared Lando Norris.
