Carlos Sainz is ready for the start of his national Grand Prix
After achieving the second fastest time in the qualifying yesterday, Carlos Sainz wants to seize all the opportunities that may come his way in this race.

This qualification, although disappointing for Charles Leclerc, brings comfort to Carlos Sainz, the Monégasque’s teammate. The Spaniard needed a result like this to gain confidence at a time when Ferrari is bringing significant developments.
Sainz who reassured himself
With Charles Leclerc’s Q1 exit, Carlos Sainz carried a double hope: that of Ferrari and his Spanish fans. Despite a complicated qualifying, he managed to avoid the pitfalls to secure the front row just behind the unbeatable Max Verstappen.
“I needed it because it was very tight. The conditions were very, very delicate today and even though I passed Q1 and Q2 without any problems and did a good lap with just one set of tires in Q3, it was probably one of the most delicate qualifications I’ve had here in Barcelona in terms of conditions, but we did it,” said Sainz to Marc Gené’s microphone just after the session.
« I feel very well, as you can imagine, especially because today, I really felt like we pushed the car to its limit. »
Spanish isn’t afraid to get into it at the first turn
A start where it will be necessary to position oneself well for the first turn. As Carlos Sainz says in the post-qualifying press conference, « It also depends on the slipstream and the luck you have, whether you can get a slipstream or not on the descent towards the first turn.
But despite this fortunate aspect, the driver racing at home hopes to be opportunistic.
He said in a press conference, “It is evident that we will try to give everything in the first corner and get on the podium. And if Max does something strange, then we can win.”
Whatever happens, Sainz will have to stay focused. This race also promises to be strategic due to tire degradation.
