Logan Sargeant arrived in Formula 1 this winter. The adaptation for the young American has been difficult. In his Williams, the rookie has still not scored a single point. He is the only one in this situation along with Nyck de Vries, the other rookie of this season.

Repeated accidents

In addition to the lack of results, another problem adds to the performance of the young American. Logan Sargeant has already cost his team a lot. During several weekends, particularly in Baku but also recently in Spain, the American ended up in the wall, heavily penalizing his races.

This situation can be difficult to handle for a rookie. But not for Logan Sargeant. He asserts that it does not change anything in his mindset: « The accident hasn’t changed my confidence, not at all. In Spain, it surely had an impact on my qualifying session, but my mindset remains unchanged. »

Errors with a price

Indeed, in Spain, Logan Sargeant was involved in an accident, damaging his car. Williams had to work hard to repair the American’s vehicle on time, that is, before the qualifying session. This preparation is not optimal in order to attempt to set the best possible time.

The accident cost me a lot because we had to rebuild the car in less than two hours. All these conditions combined led to this performance in qualifying, which is clearly not what we wanted to do,” said the American.

Already in Azerbaijan, Logan Sargeant had an accident. The American driver crashed into the wall during the second free practice session, just before the sprint race. This prevented him from starting the race.

On the right track

Logan Sargeant is not affected by these accidents. The American always has confidence in himself and intends to improve. He is already on the right track, as the driver’s results and overall pace are increasing.

I think that this weekend in Spain was the one where I was closest to getting the most out of my car. […] It didn’t show in the qualifiers because this mistake in the qualifiers pushed us to rush. It cost us a lot, the American confessed.

Logan Sargeant still needs some improvements. He knows himself that he has a lot of room for improvement: “Everything I do still needs to be improved. Qualifying, racing, it’s all part of a rookie season.”
