Nyck de Vries: “It was a racing incident” with Kevin Magnussen

The fight between Nyck de Vries and Kevin Magnussen ended badly, preventing them from hoping to score any points. For Nyck de Vries, this incident is a racing incident. According to de Vries, the points were not possible even without this mishap.

For the Dutch pilot, points were not feasible over the weekend. « We would have certainly finished higher, but if we’re honest with ourselves, I don’t think we had the necessary package to fight for points . » He believes that with this incident on the track, he didn’t deserve to score even a single point: « From a realistic standpoint, I don’t think a point would have been fair », he stated.

Work to be done at AlphaTauri

Since the beginning of the season, the Faenza team has been in great difficulty. They are currently in last place in the constructors’ standings with only 2 points. Nyck de Vries is realistic about the pace of his car. “As a team, we are lacking a bit of competitiveness and pace,” said the Dutch driver, before underlining the importance of understanding how the car works. “Several of our competitors have also brought updates for the Canada weekend, so we will have to see and understand where we stand compared to them.”
