After his retirement in 2016 (followed by a luxurious interim in 2017), the 2009 world champion, Jenson Button, could be returning to competition. The Briton is tempted to undertake a full season in endurance or Nascar.

The former Brawn and McLaren driver has already tried his hand at endurance racing this year for the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He was behind the wheel of the Nascar Garage 56, which accommodates projects that cannot fit into any of the usual categories for the race.

The 43-year-old driver also tested himself in Nascar. He will participate in several races, notably on the Circuit of the Americas where he obtained a modest 18th place. He will compete in a cup race on the road circuit of Chicago on July 2nd, but also on the road circuit of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 13th.

(I) “I didn’t think I would want to do a full season again, because of the busy schedule, but I feel like I will be involved in something next year by doing the full season,” said the former F1 number 22.

“« It’s great to do occasional races, but you’re not getting the best out of yourself, and that’s why doing three races here in the Cup is really good,” explains the former McLaren driver.

After several seasons filled with sporadic races, the driver is certain: he wants to do full seasons again. (e) I want to do a complete season next year, if the weather permits. I have to balance certain things because I have been very busy this year. These will be endurance races, either IMSA or WEC. (e)
