Mercedes has announced that their reserve driver, Mick Schumacher, will be driving a car driven by his father, Michael Schumacher, the W02 from the 2011 season, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, from July 13th to 16th.

The German driver is excited to get into his father’s car seat: « It’s going to be spectacular to race in my father’s 2011 car, the W02, even if it’s just a short race. »

Discovering one of his father’s cars fills the 24-year-old driver with emotion. The simple fact of discovering this generation of cars will be incredible! Knowing that he drove this car makes it very special, and there will be many emotions that come with it. I have been fortunate enough to drive one of his Benetton cars and some of the Ferraris he piloted, but this will be the first time behind the wheel of a Mercedes he drove. I am sure I will come out of it with a big smile on my face.

During the same event, fans will also be able to catch a glimpse of the 2021 Mercedes W12. The car represents the 8th constructor title for the German company. This racing machine will be driven by Mexican driver Esteban Gutiérrez.
