Mike Krack: Aston Martin has “a lot to learn”
Since the beginning of the season, Aston Martin has established itself as a top team behind Red Bull. Nevertheless, the team still has a significant room for improvement, which starts with analyzing the developments made in Canada.

Lawrence Stroll’s team has gained legitimacy this year. Since Racing Point became Aston Martin from 2021, the British team has been continuously improving. Firstly with the support of Sebastian Vettel and now with Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin relies on the experience of its drivers to develop the car, with a few million dollars from Lawrence Stroll’s pocket. But the results are there. In the battle with Mercedes for second place in the constructor’s standings, Aston Martin is making its way. However, the road ahead is still long. At the moment, the team must analyze the improvements made in order to progress.
A complicated Friday in Canada
Arriving in Canada with new developments on the AMR23, Aston Martin was supposed to work with these new parts to push the boundaries even further. However, unpredictable weather jeopardized their tests.
« Friday was a very difficult day. It was the most confusing day we’ve had since the start of the season due to the conditions and interruptions, with different schedules at different times,” explained Mike Krack. Aston Martin was in the dark: « “We really didn’t know where we stood.”
This did not prevent the team from having a good weekend, notably marked by Lance Stroll’s comeback to score points and Fernando Alonso’s second place.
Continue working on the car
The work doesn’t stop there for Aston Martin. Improvements on the car will continue to be introduced throughout the season, especially up until the summer break. The ultimate goal is to challenge Red Bull and be able to compete for a victory on a regular basis. To achieve this, a systematic learning and work process must be carried out on the car. When installing new parts on the car, you must always be immersed in a relearning cycle: how does the car behave under different conditions, at different driving heights, said Mike Krack.
Only victory will satisfy the team based in Silverstone. We have a lot to learn and we must continue to develop the car in the upcoming races, said the Team Principal of the British team.
