Carlos Sainz: “My main goal is to win one day with Ferrari.”
Carlos Sainz's contract with Ferrari will expire in 2024. The Spanish driver, who expresses his desire to continue with the prancing horse, has stated that he would be forced to look elsewhere if an agreement with Ferrari is not reached this winter.

Currently 5th in the World Drivers’ Championship with a 127-point deficit to Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz is thinking about his future as he has less than 2 years left on his contract. For several weeks now, numerous rumors have been circulating regarding his future. However, the Spanish driver insists that these rumors are completely false.
Sainz responds to rumors
Several weeks ago, Carlos Sainz was rumored to have been sent to Audi, who plans to enter Formula 1 in 2026. Dissatisfied with this false information, the Spaniard did not hesitate to clear up the situation. “It angers me when invented and unsubstantiated rumors come out. Honestly, I believe that there are weeks in Formula 1 where there is nothing to be said,” stated Sainz.
(I) I don’t know if it’s “clickbait” or maybe just small journalists trying to bring a story to gain notoriety and make their little page more successful by saying, “I was the first to say that Carlos will be at Audi in 2026″. I honestly think it’s something related to that, because I don’t understand where the rumors are coming from. That doesn’t mean I will or won’t go, it’s impossible to say,” (F) the Ferrari driver added, clearly annoyed by this situation.
« But I know that for now, I only speak with Ferrari » he concluded on these rumors.
Carlos Sainz absolutely wants to know what his future holds this winter
“The current 5th place in the championship does not want to start the 2024 season with Ferrari without knowing if he has a new contract. He doesn’t want to be in the dark but desires to know his future beyond 2024. ‘I’m not gonna lie, I don’t like starting my final year of contract without really knowing where I’ll be racing the following year,’ said Sainz.”
He has already experienced this “last minute” situation in his F1 career and at 28 years old, Carlos Sainz is looking for stability. « I have gone through this process with Red Bull and Renault, and I know that it is not ideal as an athlete and as a driver. It simply isn’t the right thing to do. That’s why I took this winter as a reference to try to decide about my future », he explained.
Staying at Ferrari: a desire but not an obligation
If Carlos Sainz wishes to know his future next winter, it’s not certain that Ferrari will be able to enlighten him. But the Spaniard repeats that his greatest desire is to continue with Ferrari: “My priority, and my main objective, is to win one day with Ferrari. And I think I have said it clearly, very, very often. That’s why I will give them priority this winter.”
However, even though the Spaniard prioritizes Ferrari, he feels obligated to consider leaving if nothing happens. If that’s not the case, it will be time to look elsewhere, he declared.
The end of this season will be a turning point for Carlos Sainz. For now, it doesn’t seem like any competitive team is able to sign the Spanish driver: the seats are already taken. Will he comply with Ferrari’s demands and forget his own statements by this winter?
