Alpine will introduce a new front wing and should continue to evolve the car until the summer break. The French team is looking to solidify its 5th place, while chasing the 4th place held by Ferrari.

Alpine is the 5th team on the grid. The French team scored only three points during the sprint race weekend in Austria. It was a weekend where the Viry-Châtillon team lost quite a few points to McLaren, who are in 6th place in the constructor’s standings.

The English team had brought a new package for Lando Norris during the round at the Red Bull Ring. Alpine needs to get closer to the top teams in order to at least retain its 5th position. For this, the team should bring a new front wing for French drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly.

“We are excited. Several teams have made progress in the last two Grand Prix races, and we certainly have to do the same. So, I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve. What we will introduce in Silverstone will be a step forward, and we also have other things coming up before the summer break,” said Esteban Ocon.

The French driver wishes to confirm Alpine’s position in 5th place. « We are always focused on the teams ahead of us, that’s very clear, but we can see that the teams behind us are also making extra efforts. We cannot afford to let Lando Norris finish in 5th place too often, otherwise McLaren will catch up with us quickly. »

For Alpine’s director, Otmar Szafnauer, the race weekend in Spielberg is a failure. « We are not satisfied with leaving Austria with only three points throughout the weekend. This final result highlights our shortcomings, especially in terms of our ability to compete with our closest rivals on race day, who currently have a few tenths of a second advantage over us. Next week, in Silverstone, the car will be improved and we hope it will be more competitive in the upcoming races. »

Alpine’s goal at the beginning of the season was to maintain the fourth place they achieved last season. An objective that the French team is currently unable to accomplish with the rise of Aston Martin since the start of the season. Alpine is currently in 5th place, 107 points behind Ferrari, the fourth team in the constructor’s championship.
