Lando Norris obvious driver of the day
After a truly beautiful British Grand Prix, Lando Norris was elected driver of the day, after his 2nd place finish at Silverstone. The Briton unquestionably deserved the victory.

McLaren is making a strong comeback and achieved a double Top 5 finish: with Oscar Piastri finishing 4th, the Woking team also secured a magnificent 2nd place at Silverstone, thanks to Lando Norris, just behind Max Verstappen, who didn’t really need to push himself.
One-sided championships are boring for the audience, routine and easy victories have no flavor: it is therefore necessary to reward the brave hearts, who turn a difficult start to the season into an example of perseverance when the results come.
This is how Lando Norris rightfully earned the title of driver of the day, almost unanimously chosen by the public. His meteoric start allowed him to take the lead of the Grand Prix, before Max Verstappen regained the advantage a few laps later. The story could have been even more extraordinary.
Without DRS, what result?
When Max Verstappen overtook Lando Norris approaching turn 5, the scene was heartbreaking: the Englishman didn’t even try to defend against the Dutchman, who then wasn’t really threatened anymore. A sad sight, which raises even more questions about the validity of this tactic.
Before the DRS was activated, the top three drivers, including Oscar Piastri, were very close together. Without it, Lando Norris could have defended against Max Verstappen for much longer, and Piastri could have certainly assisted his teammate. A strategy of two against one could have worked without this increasingly criticized gimmick.
Thus, the DRS, as often, reduces battles and the chances of victory to a mere trifle, for those who take good starts. Yet, Norris deserved the victory a hundred times over, especially since he finished just a few seconds behind the double world champion.
The English were able to rejoice in seeing two of their representatives, Norris and Hamilton, on the podium. A superb result, despite the fact that this kind of performance is not logically rewarded with victory…
