British Grand Prix – Lance Stroll deemed responsible for Gasly’s retirement
Lance Stroll has been penalized after causing Pierre Gasly's retirement. The Canadian finishes the race in 14th place after receiving a 5-second penalty during the race, not at all saving the race for the Frenchman and his Alpine.

After the race at Silverstone, which saw Max Verstappen secure his 43rd victory, we had the British Grand Prix with two Britons on the podium (Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton).
It is in the second part of the ranking that a change was made after the race. Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin was issued a 5-second penalty after the Grand Prix.
« The commissioners reviewed the video and onboard footage. The commissioners considered that Gasly was in the lead at Turn 16 and was entitled to the racing line at the exit of Turn 17. Stroll attempted to hold his position and, as a result, had to go off the track approaching Turn 17, where there is a significant sausage kerb. Stroll re-entered the track at an angle that caused him to collide with Gasly. » explained the race commissioners in their statements.
In addition to the 5-second reprimand, the Canadian driver was penalized with a deduction of two points in the standings due to the collision with Pierre Gasly on lap 46.
Lance Stroll therefore finished the race in 14th place at the British Grand Prix.
