Lando Norris lavished praise on his teammate after his near podium finish at Silverstone
After his 2nd place in the British Grand Prix, Lando Norris congratulates his teammate, who enables him to improve his level of driving.

McLaren has just achieved its best race result of the season during the British Grand Prix. The English team secured a splendid second place thanks to Lando Norris. His teammate, Oscar Piastri, also achieved his career-best result with a fourth place. However, it is important to remember that the McLaren had a difficult start.
In the press conference, the British driver congratulated his teammate and stated that McLaren should have seen both of their cars on the podium at the team’s home Grand Prix under normal conditions. However, the safety car disrupted McLaren’s strategy.
« Honestly, we should have had P2 and P3. Oscar did an incredible job all weekend, and he should have been P3 today if it wasn’t for the safety car, so it’s a shame, he deserved it,” explains Lando Norris. « “We did everything we should have done to be P2 and P3,” » continued the McLaren driver.
The Australian rookie achieved his best qualification and his best race of his young Formula 1 career. « He was at the top of his game all weekend. He pushed me to a crazy level, which is a good thing. This raised the level of what we do as a team. » affirms the British driver.
For the 23-year-old driver, his teammate is very consistent. « All year long, he has been good. It’s not like he just arrived here and he’s strong. He has been good from day one in the car and sometimes makes my life difficult. I don’t always like it, but it’s a good thing at the end of the day, and it also makes me a better driver. »
Norris being the most experienced driver at McLaren, he benefits from the latest developments on the race car. Despite having a few less upgrades, Piastri manages to extract a great potential from this new McLaren.
