Nico Hülkenberg hopes to continue in F1
Nico Hülkenberg is bringing joy to his team principal, Günther Steiner. The driver, who is rediscovering Formula 1 on a full-time basis, has outperformed his teammate and is expected to have his contract extended for the upcoming season.

Back in Formula 1 this season, German Nico Hülkenberg is surprising. After joining Haas to replace his fellow countryman Mick Schumacher, the 35-year-old driver has impressed with several Q3 qualifications and a front row start in Canada. The Haas driver started in second place, just behind Max Verstappen.
The driver who had helped Aston Martin during two Grand Prix races last season is ahead of his teammate in terms of points scored: 9 for Nico Hülkenberg and 2 for Kevin Magnussen. He is expected to have his contract with the American team extended.
In Hungary or in Belgium
« The new contract will be soon discussed. Gene Haas, the team owner, will attend the races in Belgium and Hungary », Günther Steiner said to Sport.de. As of this weekend, the former Renault driver could negotiate his future contract.
« We have already discussed the contract, but it’s better to do it in person rather than over the phone or video. The new contract will not be long in coming. It is on its way and we hope it will be concluded as soon as possible so we can announce a new contract, because we are very happy with Nico, says the director of the Haas team.
The return of F1 number 27 is very positive, admits Günther Steiner, the driver quickly adapted to the car. The man with 191 races under his belt is performing well with a back-of-the-grid car. « I didn’t expect him to be in such good shape right away. He hadn’t been a full-time driver for three years, but he arrived here and immediately found his groove. We knew he was good, but we didn’t expect him to be in such good form right away », rejoices the Italo-American.
