You have to manage expectations. These are the words of Alex Albon before starting his weekend on the Hungaroring circuit. After three very good last races in Canada, Austria, and Great Britain, the Thai driver fears that the Hungarian track may not be the most suitable for the characteristics of the Williams car.

« We have had three good races, but I think we need to manage our expectations, » he declared this week. Indeed, our recent outings have been successful at Williams and especially at Silverstone, where Albon finished in 8th place. But the driver believes that the track this weekend will not yield the same outcome as the previous ones.

It’s true, the characteristics of the Hungaroring circuit may not perfectly suit the Williams. It’s a twisty track, with tight corners and a narrow track, whereas Williams often benefits from its very good straight-line speed. « It’s not necessarily a circuit that should suit us, » assures Alex Albon.

However, the scenario is never written in advance in Formula 1 and Williams may be able to score points this weekend. Especially since the Grove team is bringing improvements that could further advance the British team and allow them to aim higher. « We will see how the improvements behave on a high downforce track, which was not the case in the previous three races, » he specified.

« Hungary is a good circuit and we enjoy racing on this track. It is satisfying to drive, » concluded the Thai driver. Nothing scares someone who has brought 11 points to Williams since the beginning of the season.
