Oscar Piastri is eagerly anticipating this Hungarian Grand Prix
After finishing 4th in Great Britain, Oscar Piastri hopes that McLaren will once again fight for the top positions in Hungary. The Hungaroring is a circuit with a completely different philosophy compared to Silverstone.

Formula 1 is back in Hungary this weekend after a one-week break. This weekend marks the first of two consecutive races before the summer break.
If McLaren made a leap forward during the last Grand Prix weekend in Great Britain, for Oscar Piastri, the Hungaroring will be a test for the car: (e) If we have a good weekend in Budapest and the car performs well, I think we can be confident for the upcoming races.
Despite the success at Silverstone, the Australian driver remains discreet about the evolution of the MCL60.
« It was a very decent step forward. I think we are still a bit cautious and maybe Silverstone suits us very well as a circuit because we are generally very fast in high-speed corners, and there are plenty of those at Silverstone.
Budapest will be an important test to see if we are fast everywhere, but either way, it is definitely a step in the right direction. Without these improvements, we would not have been able to hang on to the back of the Red Bulls, beat Ferrari and Mercedes,” explained the McLaren rookie.
Lando Norris’ teammate still thinks he can fight at the front in Hungary. « We can’t be certain of what awaits us, but we believe we should be in the fight with Ferrari, Mercedes, and Aston Martin now. I feel like we’ve moved out of that midfield pack, but at the same time, we saw at Silverstone that there are still a few teams from that pack of cars that are fast. »
The 22-year-old driver was obviously happy to rediscover the battle for the podium, a situation that hadn’t happened to him since his seasons in the F1 feeder categories.
« The least we can say is that being in this position so early in my F1 career was quite exciting. In a way, I found myself back on familiar ground from my beginnings. It was nice to be back at the front, which makes things a little easier because you have fewer people to worry about. Once you’ve gotten through the chaos of the first lap and the midfield, it’s a much nicer place to fight for trophies,” recounted the Australian. »
