Sergio Pérez: “I have worked hard in Milton Keynes with my team to improve myself”
Despite having strong performances in the previous Grand Prix races and impressive comebacks, Sergio Pérez's poor form in qualifying sessions can be attributed to him.

For Sergio Pérez, nothing is going well in qualifying, the Mexican just can’t get it right. As a result, he is condemned to impossible comebacks in the race on Sundays and is definitively out of the running for the world title.
Having gone off track in Monaco, finishing 11th in Spain, 12th in Canada, 15th in Austria, and 16th in Great Britain, Sergio Perez is on a downward slope in qualifying. The problem is that points are distributed on Sundays, and starting from such a low position, even with a Red Bull, it can sometimes be difficult to achieve a good result. Sergio Perez admits to this poor performance and wants to address it, not necessarily to get back in the title race, but simply to compete for podiums and wins and, most importantly, to keep his Red Bull seat for next year. “I know that I haven’t always succeeded in qualifying this season, so I need to focus on improving my Saturdays,” he said.
Indeed, the pressure is mounting on the Mexican’s shoulders. With such a fast car, as evidenced by Max Verstappen’s domination, how is it possible to lack so much rhythm? The Red Bull method leaves no room for forgiveness. If you don’t perform well enough, you risk being ousted. There are many who can attest to this: Pierre Gasly, Alex Albon, Daniil Kvyat, or more recently, Nyck de Vries.
Furthermore, Daniel Ricciardo’s return to AlphaTauri could put even more pressure on Sergio Pérez. The Australian already has in the back of his mind a return to Red Bull in 2025 if he can regain his previous level of performance. Pérez no longer has the right to make mistakes and must take advantage of this second half of the season to regain his form.
« “I know I have the race pace on Sundays and I have an amazing car that should be on the podium every weekend,” declared the Mexican.
“I worked hard in Milton Keynes with my team to improve,” concluded Sergio Pérez. “We certainly can’t afford to miss out during the qualifying session for the Hungarian Grand Prix. On the Hungaroring circuit, it’s difficult to overtake during the race, so position on the grid is crucial. Under pressure, Pérez will have to raise his level of performance, otherwise, the threat of being replaced will become real.”
