The best tweets from the Hungarian Grand Prix

Max Verstappen and Red Bull once again dominated this Sunday in Hungary despite the futile attempts of McLaren and Lewis Hamilton. This is sure to give our online fans something to talk about.

The Hungarian Grand Prix marked another victory for the Verstappen/Red Bull team. This latest victory, the twelfth in a row including the last Grand Prix of 2022, brings the total number of consecutive wins for the Austrian team to twelve, a new record in the top category.

An impressive and unprecedented series, that even McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes at their finest hours have not been able to achieve.

For the second consecutive time (a first in his career), Lando Norris finished on the podium of the Grand Prix in a very impressive second place. Showing impressive control during the race, the British driver however made a splash on the podium… by breaking Verstappen’s trophy while shaking his Champagne bottle! An image that never gets old!

After a brilliant qualification in 5th and 7th position, a lot was expected from Alfa Romeo in this race. Unfortunately, hopes went up in smoke right from the start after Guanyu Zhou’s failed takeoff, which caused the pile-up at the start by rear-ending Ricciardo and taking out both Alpines.

Himself having made a similar blunder on the same track in the past, the Finnish driver offered a small piece of advice to his young teammate, as shared by this internet user…

– “So, here’s the tutorial on how to make a great start at the Hungarian GP. Well, bro, you won’t have the rain to help you this year but no worries. The key is to rely on a car in front of you and boom, done deal” #F1 #HungarianGP #Humour [link to tweet]

This Grand Prix also marked Lewis Hamilton’s return to business. Indeed, the British driver secured his 104th pole position of his career on Saturday, edging out Verstappen by… 3 thousandths of a second! Over a year and a half since his last pole position, the seven-time world champion can savor his triumph, which also makes him the record holder for the most pole positions on a single circuit (9).

This Hungarian Grand Prix in 2023 also marked Williams’ 800th Grand Prix in the premier category. Although the British team had a rather discreet performance at the Hungaroring, this statistic is worth mentioning.

Already seen at Silverstone, the filming of the Formula 1 movie “Apex” continued in Hungary this weekend to the delight of film enthusiasts.

Finally, how can we not mention the other event of the weekend, namely Daniel Ricciardo’s return to competition. For his big comeback, the Australian had a decent performance, outperforming his teammate Tsunoda in both qualifying and the race, even with a damaged car from the first lap due to Zhou. We are eagerly awaiting what’s next!

We end with a sarcastic tweet about the lack of luck of the two Alpine drivers, eliminated in the first round.

The next Grand Prix will take place next week at the Spa Francorchamps circuit, the last Grand Prix before the summer break.
