Pirelli will once again carry out tire testing in Belgium. Stoffel Vandoorne will be driving the Aston Martin during these tests. The Belgian driver was behind the wheel of the Aston Martin AMR23 for one day. The other day will be driven by regular driver Lance Stroll.

The former McLaren driver had not driven an F1 car since the Abu Dhabi testing sessions in December 2020. The Pirelli tire tests aim to experiment with tires without heating blankets for 2024.

A practice session that will allow the Aston Martin reserve driver to gather a lot of information and get to know the car, in case the 31-year-old Belgian has to step in urgently for Fernando Alonso or Lance Stroll for one or more Grand Prix.

These tests will also allow for more experience during simulator sessions to assist Aston Martin. The Belgian is a reserve driver alongside F2 World Champion Felipe Drugovich, and he will complete his first laps during these tyre tests.

The current Formula E driver with DS Penske is also the reserve driver for McLaren, with whom he had raced between the 2016 and 2018 seasons as a teammate of two-time world champion Fernando Alonso.

McLaren will also be involved in the tire testing, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri taking the wheel during the testing sessions.
