Williams recruits Pat Fry at Alpine
Williams should announce the recruitment of Pat Fry during this weekend of the Belgian Grand Prix. The British will therefore leave Alpine after joining the team in 2020.

Alpine is going to lose an engineer. Pat Fry, the technical director of the Franco-British team, is going to join the Williams team.
The British team is expected to announce this new signing during the race weekend in Spa, according to Autosport. The team, which will be competing in its 801st Formula 1 Grand Prix, is recruiting the Alpine engineer to replace François-Xavier Demaison, who left the position of technical director in December.
Upon taking over the team, James Vowles made it a priority to recruit a new chief aerodynamics engineer. The former Mercedes engineer was waiting for the right candidate.
« I think that what I can tell you is that people here are holding their heads high, and the heads of others are also turning towards us. I think that everyone has realized, in fact, that the investment is real, the direction of the journey is real,” James Vowles declared to Autosport.
« I spoke about it publicly in the F1 commissions, I have money, let me spend it so that this becomes a meritocracy. But it attracts people who realize that we are on the right track to move forward », continued the former Mercedes engineer.
This candidate is named Pat Fry. The British engineer started in Formula 1 in 1987 with the Benetton team. The 59-year-old man has been working at Alpine since 2020. The engineer also worked at McLaren from 1993 until 2010. He also worked for Scuderia Ferrari and the Manor team.
