Several drivers summoned by the race stewards after qualifying in Spa
Five drivers are summoned to the race stewards after incidents occurred during the qualifying session this Friday. Furthermore, several drivers had their times cancelled during the session.

Several incidents occurred during Friday’s qualifying session, which prompted the race stewards to summon the potentially at fault drivers as well as those affected. Therefore, Kevin Magnussen and Charles Leclerc were asked to report to the stewards at 7:10 PM, accompanied by their respective team representatives. The Danish driver may have potentially impeded the Monegasque driver at turn 12 at 5:49 PM, during the Q2 session. If proven, he could receive a five-place penalty for violating Article 37.5 of the FIA regulations.
Moreover, Lewis Hamilton and Alexander Albon have also been summoned by the stewards. Both are accused of leaving the track and then rejoining in a “dangerous manner,” according to the FIA. This would be a suspected violation of Annex L, Chapter IV, Article 2 c) of the International Sporting Code. Lewis Hamilton allegedly did so at Turn 3 at 5:39 PM, while the Thai driver is reported to have made this maneuver at Turn 9 at 5:28 PM.
During the qualifying session, the FIA also cancelled the laps of several drivers for exceeding track limits. This was the case for Carlos Sainz (turn 10), Kevin Magnussen (turns 9 and 10 as well), Lando Norris (turn 15), Daniel Ricciardo (turn 4), Lewis Hamilton (turn 4), and Max Verstappen (turn 9).
Finally, the FIA has officially confirmed that Max Verstappen did indeed use a fifth gear box for this weekend in Spa, and therefore incurs a five-place penalty. He will start from 6th position on Sunday, while Charles Leclerc will take pole position in his place.
