Frederic Vasseur confident about the second part of the season
The first part of the season has just ended, Scuderia Ferrari is in 4th position in the constructors' standings. The Italian team's goal is to understand why the car performs better on certain circuits than others.

Ferrari is the 4th team on the Formula 1 grid. The Italian team is struggling to string together good results. The team based in Maranello has only achieved three podium finishes in the first part of the season.
After the Belgian Grand Prix, which marks the summer break for the F1 World Championship, Frederic Vasseur is confident in approaching the second half of the season. The break should allow the team with the prancing horse to better understand the car.
A tight plateau
« There is a tenth or two difference between P2 and P11, which means that you can have a very good race or a bad race depending on the tire management characteristics or the level of downforce you choose at the beginning of the weekend without us being able to draw a definite conclusion », explained the Italian team director.
For Ferrari, the Spa weekend was very good with a podium finish for Charles Leclerc. Frederic Vasseur is satisfied with this Belgian round. « In wet, intermediate, dry tires, during long runs or short stints. We were always there! And that’s good for us », claims the Frenchman from Scuderia Ferrari.
Three weeks of work
Italian engineers now have three weeks to understand why the SF-23 performs better on certain circuits than others. « This applies to everyone as well, we are all somewhat inconsistent. We had the same meeting a week ago and we were at the bottom of the world while McLaren was flying, says the former director of the Alfa Romeo team.
Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc are efficient during sprint race weekends. According to Frederic Vasseur, there could be several explanations for this. The first reason could be that we have better preparation than some of our competitors. The second reason could be due to the characteristics of the track, as there are similarities between Spielberg, Baku, and Spa, but I’m not sure if that’s the right conclusion we should consider.
