Frederik Vesti should take the wheel of the Mercedes in Mexico
As part of the young F1 drivers program, Mercedes should field Frederik Vesti instead of George Russell for the first free practice session in Mexico.

As part of the F1 Young Driver Program, teams are required to field a young driver in their car during free practice sessions. According to the Danish TV channel TV2, Frederik Vesti will therefore be driving for Mercedes during the first free practice session in Mexico, replacing George Russell.
Although this announcement is not yet official, it seems very credible: Mercedes, like the other teams, will be obliged to give a chance to young drivers and Frederik Vesti is currently part of the Mercedes young driver program. Moreover, the Danish driver is competing for the Formula 2 title: he is in second place behind Théo Pourchaire with a 12-point deficit.
Frederik Vesti is a very serious candidate for entry into Formula 1. Highly competitive this year in Formula 2, solid and composed, he could dream of a place in the pinnacle of motor racing. Therefore, he should be behind the wheel of the Mercedes during the FP1 of the Mexico Grand Prix, on October 27th.
When Vesti heard this rumor from the Danish television, he immediately reacted. « The feeling that I have to drive an official Formula 1 test session with Lewis Hamilton next to me is absolutely crazy. It’s everything I’ve dreamed of », the Danish driver said. A morale booster after a mistake in Belgium that cost him the lead in the Formula 2 championship.
