Despite no announcement, Stefano Domenicali confident about the renewal of the Belgian Grand Prix
In the 2024 calendar, the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps is nevertheless under threat for several years. However, the president of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, has stated that a long-term contract could be established for Belgium.

For several years, the Belgian Grand Prix has benefited from short-term contracts, often lasting only a year. Consequently, it is constantly threatened by other countries pushing to secure their place on the calendar. And when we talk about these new countries, they are countries that offer much more money than the traditional European races. In an effort to maintain the annual 24-race schedule, choices have to be made, and inevitably, some Grand Prix races are at risk. France has already suffered from this evolution in Formula 1. However, Stefano Domenicali has reassured about the Belgian Grand Prix.
« First of all, next year, we will be here, and we are thinking about the future,” said the Formula 1 president to Sky Sports F1. « “What’s really good here is that they have invested for the fans, and that’s something we always need for everyone,” he explained. Indeed, Stefano Domenicali was asking for changes to some circuits in order to adapt and stay on the calendar. This has been done in Belgium, and it seems to greatly satisfy the Formula 1 authorities.
« I think we are starting with this image and it’s just magical, I believe there will also be a long-term future for Belgium,” he continued. This is the most important sentence of his statement and it delights Formula 1 fans, who adore the Spa track with its legendary Eau Rouge.
On Saturday, we had a very difficult day weather-wise, and they were there without complaining, ready with the enthusiasm we need. So, we are very proud of them,” explained Domenicali before the start of the Grand Prix. The emphasis was placed on the drivers’ positive reaction to the weather challenges.
The Belgian Grand Prix seems to be well set to stay on the calendar for many years, according to the president of Formula 1. Something that will delight the Formula 1 world.
