Logan Sargeant has put “tremendous pressure” on himself until now
As the Belgian GP marked the time for rest for the F1 drivers, rookie Logan Sargeant, who is languishing at the bottom of the drivers' standings, admitted that he expects more from himself and wants to get more out of his race weekends.

Logan Sargeant is the only regular driver at the start of the season who has not scored any points this year (Ricciardo also hasn’t scored any, but he has only raced in 2 weekends). The overall performance is poor, especially considering his teammate Alexander Albon’s dominant performance at Williams, where he notably outqualified Sargeant 12-0.
The American driver admitted to being disappointed after the Belgian Grand Prix, which marks the beginning of the summer break. « “This year, I have often felt frustrated for not doing what I could have done,” confesses the 22-year-old Floridian. « “I expect to bring out the best in myself. Sometimes, I feel like I’ve missed the target several times.” »
« Extract everything there is to extract during a weekend »
But the fourth place finisher in the F2 World Championship would be wrong to be discouraged, and he wanted to remind everyone of his ambition to turn things around. « We must remedy this, better chain together, execute better. I feel that this is the next step because I feel that I now have the elements to do everything.», says the driver who still saw a glimmer of hope in his performances at the beginning of summer by taking 13th place in Austria and then 11th place at Silverstone (best career finish).
If he managed to get close enough recently, he acknowledges putting immense pressure on himself to score points. Now, he admits not having a specific goal in this matter. “I think that for me, it’s about feeling that I have extracted everything that could be extracted during a weekend. […] I need to feel that I have done everything I could, that I have maximized it.”
Sargeant now has 10 weekends left, including 3 sprint races, to hope to make the most of his rookie season finish, as he doesn’t seem to be threatened with eviction at the moment. But Nyck de Vries’ case showed that rookies need to quickly raise their game.
