Oscar Piastri believes that he made many mistakes
Oscar Piastri is the best rookie this season. The McLaren driver has scored 34 points and has impressed F1 fans, but according to him, he still makes too many mistakes.

Oscar Piastri is one of the rookies this season. The driver had high expectations after moving from Alpine to McLaren. The Australian has impressed in this early stage, scoring 34 points in 12 races and finishing 4th in the British Grand Prix.
Despite promising beginnings, Lando Norris’ teammate believes he could have done better. “My start to the season has been fairly solid, but I’ve had ups and downs,” explained Oscar Piastri before his second-place finish in the sprint race at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Sprint race podium
The beginning of the season for the 22-year-old driver and for the British team has been challenging. The team had only scored 17 points before the improvements made in Austria on Lando Norris’ car.
As a team, we have clearly made huge progress, but I believe that I have always been confident, since I joined the team, that we were making the most of what we had and that when we had the opportunity to fight at the front, we were ready.
It took until Silverstone to see Oscar Piastri’s MCL60 with the updates. Upgrades that allowed the driver to achieve his best career result. « We showed during the British and Hungarian Grands Prix that we were very strong operationally and with the car. Silverstone was probably my best weekend to date, Budapest was decent, but there were still things to fine-tune in some areas » recounts the Australian.
34 points in 12 races
Despite scoring 34 points in 12 races, the former member of the Alpine Academy is not satisfied. « There may have been a few too many mistakes compared to what I would have liked. I know it’s normal for a beginner, but there were a few too many. Before the season, I said that if I had to make mistakes, I wanted to try to make them once, learn from them, and not repeat them, but there were a few times where I made the same mistake, but I feel like I’m improving on this point », confessed the number 81.
