Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be teammates at Ferrari in 2024 for the fourth consecutive year. Both drivers are at the end of their contracts at the end of the next season, which is expected to be their final one together in red. The future of the Spaniard seems to be moving away from Maranello, as rumors linking him to Audi have been multiplying in recent weeks.

Leclerc, for his part, should continue at Ferrari. Arriving in 2019, the Monegasque driver is the jewel of the Scuderia, which has supported him since his early years. However, the relationship seemed somewhat strained since the 2022 season, where Ferrari’s shortcomings greatly irritated the driver of car number 16. Rumors then appeared, sending him notably to Mercedes in the event of Lewis Hamilton’s retirement.

“The extension of the seven-time world champion this Thursday has definitively dashed any hopes of seeing Leclerc join the German team. His future logically lies with Ferrari, even though his contract expires in just over a year. When questioned in a press conference before the Italian Grand Prix, the former Sauber driver stated that his objective is still to win the championship with Scuderia, and that negotiations will begin at the end of the season:

« We are in a difficult situation. For now, our priority is to focus on the work to be done on the car because we are far from Red Bull. I am sure that at the end of the season we will start discussions. I believe I have been clear several times about my intentions. My dream has always been to be a driver for Ferrari and to win a world championship with them. I still have another year and a half on my contract and there is no rush. »

With Ferrari, Charles Leclerc has won 5 races and has stepped onto the podium 27 times in four and a half seasons.
