Lando Norris satisfied after Monza: “We have made progress.”
Stuck behind Alexander Albon (Williams) for a long time and unable to overtake him, Lando Norris settled for an 8th place finish and 4 points on a circuit that didn't suit the McLaren perfectly.
In Monza, the expected hierarchy was respected. Behind Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes, it was difficult for the other two members of the leading pack, Aston Martin and McLaren, to compete. Starting from 9th place, Lando Norris finally gained a small position at the finish of a race in which he remained behind Alexander Albon’s Williams for a long time.
« P8, that’s a few points. We were maybe hoping for a bit more. But there were moments when we expected not to even score any points. So I’m happy », the Briton expressed contentedly.
On a fast circuit, the British driver was satisfied with the performance of his car, especially since at Spa, the weakness of the MCL-60 had been demonstrated on a very high-speed track.

The Thai driver, behind the wheel of a very fast FW45, defended his 7th position for almost half of the race against the McLaren driver. The Williams may not have allowed us to score as many points as we could have. But he [Albon] had a good race. The pace was good. But the overtakes were too difficult.
A satisfied Norris, but above all obliged to recognize the superiority of the Williams in this duel: « I tried a lot. But they were too fast for us on the straights. »
