The Singapore Grand Prix could have been a great success for the Alpine team this season. With Pierre Gasly finishing in 6th place, the Enstone team was on track for a strong collective performance with Esteban Ocon if it hadn’t been for a mechanical issue. Unfortunately, Ocon experienced a gearbox problem while fighting for a Top 5 position on his 27th birthday this Sunday, and he failed to see the checkered flag for the sixth time this season.

However, everything had started well. Starting 8th after a great qualifying session, the Normandy native had high hopes for the race. Daring and opportunistic in his overtakes, Ocon treated us to several beautiful moments, such as this battle with Fernando Alonso.

In a good rhythm until his retirement, Ocon felt comfortable in his quest for another good result on a city circuit after his 3rd place finish in Monaco.

Very frustrated after the race, the former Force India driver knew that a great opportunity had slipped away, knowing that the Red Bulls will not struggle at every Grand Prix until the end of the season. The good news for Ocon is that he won’t have to dwell on it for long as the next race is coming up next weekend in Suzuka, a track where he finished 4th last year.

While waiting for better days, Ocon sees Oscar Piastri overtaking him in the championship and is now in 12th place.
