The best tweets from the Singapore Grand Prix

Almost unanimously, the Singapore Grand Prix is considered one of the most spectacular races of the 2023 Formula 1 season. The end of Red Bull's dominance and the suspense of the race have sparked the creativity of the best social media commentators.

We might have expected Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, or Charles Leclerc, but it’s Carlos Sainz who is the first driver to bring down Red Bull this season.

The Spanish driver prevails just ahead of his great friend Lando Norris, who also had an outstanding race and achieves his best result in Formula 1.

If the battle at the front was impressive, other exploits came to enhance the Singapore night even more. Indeed, for only his third Grand Prix, young Liam Lawson had the luxury of outperforming both Red Bulls in qualifying and scoring his first points in the race. A future regular driver in 2024?

Liam Lawson, P9, scored his first points in F1 today after only 3 races with AlphaTauri! 💪

Another driver stood out, but he was nonetheless poorly rewarded. After what can be described as the most beautiful battles and overtakes of the Grand Prix with Fernando Alonso and Sergio Pérez (no less), Esteban Ocon unfortunately had to retire, once again let down by his mechanics. A very unpleasant surprise on his 27th birthday.

While he was on track to secure a podium and possibly being the fastest driver this Sunday, George Russell made an irreversible mistake in the last lap of the Grand Prix by hitting the wall. An error that will definitely haunt him for quite some time.

With this first relative underperformance, Max Verstappen sees a record of Michael Schumacher fly away along with the one of 100% podium finishes in a single season.

📊 With his 5th place in Singapore, Max Verstappen will not equal the record of 100% podium finishes in a season in 2023 (M. Schumacher / 2002). ❌ #F1 | #SingaporeGP 🇸🇬 pic.twitter.com/2aZ31mBMzV— Turn One #SingaporeGP 🇸🇬 (@Turn_OneF1) September 18, 2023

A welcomed underperformance on the Scuderia’s side, teasing just a bit with their Austrian garage neighbor…

The next Formula 1 appointment will take place next weekend with the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka.
