The Williams driver hit the wall in the final turn of the Suzuka circuit, in Q1, which will make him start from the back of the grid for the Grand Prix tomorrow. This accident is the latest in a series of incidents for the American driver.

During the Singapore Grand Prix, he hit the wall during the race, while at the Dutch Grand Prix, at the end of last month, he hit the wall twice: during qualifying and during the race.

The accident of the American driver at Suzuka has raised new questions about his future in F1, with his place at Williams being the last to be confirmed for next year.

« I’m doing my best »

This series of incidents also puts pressure on the British team regarding cost capping, with all teams being required to adhere to a budget of $135 million per season.

(In the end, I’m not trying to put myself into a corner, so there’s not much I can say except that I’m doing my best), the American explains.

Williams’ driver still praised the performance of his car. « The day has been excellent so far. I think we really transformed the car compared to yesterday, and it felt good. » However, he highlights the « overheating issues [with the rear tires] in the final sector, and that, combined with too aggressive power », caused this accident.
