American Express signs a deal with F1 on the American continents, only
American Express will become the payment system for all Grand Prix on the American continents. This therefore includes 6 events per season with advantages for American Express members.
American Express and Formula 1 have announced a multi-year partnership, making American Express the official payment partner at events in North and South America. This season, there are 6 races on the American continents, namely Austin, Mexico, São Paulo, Las Vegas, Miami and Montreal. This partnership also extends to the F1 Academy, an exclusively female series, aimed at promoting equal opportunities for women in motorsport, which has just finished its first season.
This is the first deal signed by American Express spanning several countries in over 10 years. Elizabeth Rutledge, marketing director of American Express, stated that « this partnership will provide unique experiences to American Express members and fans ».
As the official payment partner of F1, American Express will offer special benefits to card members, such as early access to “F1 Experiences” packages and Paddock Club and main grandstand tickets. On-site benefits will also be available, including free Amex Race radios to listen to live commentary from within the circuit enclosure and gifts when shopping in F1 stores.
The American continent has seen a very significant expansion in the number of races on the F1 calendar, particularly since the F1 was purchased by Liberty Media, an American consortium.
