The FIA, International Automobile Federation conducts checks after the end of each race on single-seaters. Late after the end of the USA Grand Prix and into the night from Sunday to Monday in France, the FIA issued a statement from the race stewards noting an excessively worn and therefore too thin floor on two single-seaters: the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc and the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton.
These two drivers were judged by race management who opted for the worst decision: the pure and simple disqualification from the race, as required by the regulations.
The first point of Logan Sargeant’s F1 career, at home
This disqualification therefore reshuffles the cards upon the arrival of this United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. Lewis Hamilton had crossed the finish line in second position. He thus gives his place to Lando Norris (McLaren) while on the third step of the podium finally climbs Carlos Sainz Jr. (Ferrari). Sergio Perez moves up to 4th position in the Grand Prix.
This disqualification also allows Lance Stroll to take 7th place with Aston Martin but above all allows Williams to get both of its drivers in the points, Albon 9th and Sargeant 10th. Thus, the American driver, Logan Sargeant, scores his first point in F1, in his career, and moreover at home.
