Théo Pourchaire was unable to drive in Formula 1 as planned during the tests

Théo Pourchaire had once again a rendezvous with an F1 seat. It had been scheduled for a long time with Alfa Romeo, and yet, the current leader of the Formula 2 championship couldn’t take advantage of it. He only managed to complete 4 laps, without setting a timed lap.

The Alfa Romeo broke down during Free Practice 1. The brakes were causing issues and Alfa Romeo did not have time to fix the problem during the session.

Théo Pourchaire will be back on track in Formula 1 with an Alfa Romeo at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but the Frenchman is very disappointed with this situation.

« I’m very disappointed of course, I prepared a lot for this practice session. The last time I drove an F1 car was during the Abu Dhabi test almost a year ago. I was looking forward to this moment, I was ready, I felt good.

« Unfortunately, there was a small brake problem. It was dangerous to drive like that, so we preferred not to continue. The engineers tried to find the problem, but mechanical issues happen sometimes. I didn’t participate last year, unfortunately it happens in Formula 1, but I would love to be back in the car. » explained Théo on Canal+ microphone even before the end of the session.

I would have liked to do a lot more laps, I had a great schedule with me. The atmosphere is incredible and I did some not very fast laps but the track seems crazy. I’m ready as a reserve driver if needed.

The ART driver will play the title in Formula 2 in Abu Dhabi while also taking part in FP1 in F1.
