Gasly recovers all his Super Licence points
Pierre Gasly, who was at risk of a suspension for a long time, has regained all the points on his Super License. His last penalty dates back to the Mexican Grand Prix in 2022.

The Sword of Damocles hanging over Pierre Gasly has disappeared. After the Mexican Grand Prix, the Alpine driver has officially regained all his Super License points. His last penalty point dates back to the 2022 edition of the Mexican race.
In October 2022, while still competing for AlphaTauri, the driver had accumulated 10 penalty points on his Super License. According to the FIA regulations, a driver can face a penalty, including being prevented from participating in the next Grand Prix, if they accumulate 12 penalty points.
A situation that generates doubts.
Before his official signing with Alpine, there were concerns about his future in motorsport. First and foremost, there was a possibility of the French team being hesitant to recruit a driver who constantly faced penalties. Indeed, at any point during a season, the driver could have been penalized and therefore risked missing a race, as per the regulations.
Even after the confirmation of his transfer to Alpine, uncertainties remained. There were still two races to be contested in 2022 before the end of the season. Consequently, Pierre Gasly could have been penalized while under contract with AlphaTauri, but the consequences would have weighed on Alpine. The Normand could have missed the first round of the following season in Bahrain.
No driver has reached the limit of 12 points.
From now on, Pierre Gasly starts from scratch when it comes to penalties on his Super License. The concept of the “points system,” introduced in 2014, aims to sanction dangerous behavior on the track. Currently, no driver has been disqualified in a race due to the accumulation of 12 penalty points.
Before the Brazilian Grand Prix, the most sanctioned driver was Logan Sargeant with six points. Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll followed with five points on their respective licenses. Even the six-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, has been penalized four times. 10 drivers who have participated in at least one race in 2023 have not yet accumulated any penalty points on their Super License.
