AlphaTauri, the sister Formula 1 team of Red Bull, has just announced a collaboration with Gundam. This Japanese franchise originally started as an animated television series called “Mobile Suit Gundam” in 1979. Created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise studio, the series depicts advanced military robots engaged in a war in space.
The success of “Mobile Suit Gundam” has given rise to numerous sequels, spin-offs, plastic models (known as “Gunpla”), movies, mangas, and video games. The franchise has expanded far beyond its origins, becoming a cultural phenomenon with a significant influence on pop culture and the animation industry.
AlphaTauri will collaborate with Gundam in Las Vegas only, for a special event. Yuki Tsunoda, the Japanese driver, promotes it in a video to get us “ready” for “something unexpected”.
In addition to stickers placed on the F1 cars, notably on the headrests of Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda, giant robots measuring 3 meters in height will be positioned around the circuit. As part of this partnership, a unique model of the RX-78-2 GUNDAM figurine will be unveiled in the colors of Scuderia AlphaTauri.
