The decision on the revision of the United States Grand Prix postponed
The FIA has just confirmed that the stewards have started examining Haas' right of review, but will require more time. The decision is postponed until tomorrow, Thursday, November 9, 2023.
Will the result of the United States Grand Prix 2023 held a few weeks ago in Austin be modified? Haas has requested a review of the final result following track limits violations by several drivers who were not penalized. This result is very important for the American team, as they are fighting for every point.
The hearing to listen to the targeted teams, namely Red Bull, Williams, and Aston Martin, took place on Wednesday, November 8th at 3 pm via videoconference, however, the verdict will not be given yet.
The hearing addressing the review request submitted by the MoneyGram Haas F1 team regarding documents 59 and 66 published during the United States Grand Prix has been adjourned to allow the stewards to independently consider the submissions, explains the International Automobile Federation’s statement.
The commissioners will therefore have to carefully examine each of the contentious situations and determine whether or not a driver should have been penalized for exceeding track limits too many times (5-second penalty for every three violations). If this is confirmed and verified, the FIA could potentially alter the finishing order of the United States Grand Prix.
With Williams scoring 3 points in this race, and Nico Hülkenberg, Haas driver, finishing within 5 seconds, he could be reclassified and therefore move up into the points. We will know more tomorrow.
The hearing will be rescheduled for Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., with all parties who attended the first part of the hearing. Once the hearing is reconvened, the decision regarding the discovery of a new significant and relevant element that was not available to the requesting party at the time of the initial decisions will be announced.
If the FIA determines tomorrow that the procedure must continue, then the judgment will be held at a later date.
