Charles Leclerc fought with all his might and managed to finally secure second place against Sergio Pérez on the last lap this Sunday at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. It was a great achievement, even though he couldn’t turn his pole position into a victory, once again. Against Max Verstappen, it’s a lost cause.

“What a race! Honestly, I enjoyed it so much. I am disappointed to finish second, but it’s the best we could do,” said the Monegasque during the post-race interview.

“At first, it was very delicate because I think Max lost grip and crashed into me from the inside,” he explains, but he didn’t back down. “We passed him again and we were really strong overall, we had a bit of bad luck with the safety car.”

Starting in pole position, Charles Leclerc clearly aimed for victory in Las Vegas, his first of the season, but he did not succeed. “We opted for track position and to keep that first place. But we got a second place with a lot of fighting – I accept it. I am so happy that the weekend ends this way, there couldn’t have been a better race for my first race in Vegas,” he concluded.
