Sauber pays tribute to Alfa Romeo with a video featuring Charles Leclerc and Kimi Räikkönen
It's over, Alfa Romeo is permanently leaving Formula 1, maybe to return one day. In the meantime, Sauber Motorsport is reverting back to its name without a title sponsor and has paid a beautiful tribute to its partner of the past 6 years.
It has been 6 seasons since Alfa Romeo made its return to Formula 1 by partnering with the Swiss team from Hinwil, Sauber. Launching the career of Charles Leclerc as a regular driver, having Frédéric Vasseur in the F1 paddock, or giving Kimi Räikkönen his final moments in F1, the Sauber and Alfa Romeo partnership has left its mark on the past 6 F1 seasons.
The team is and has always been Sauber, the Swiss company founded by Peter Sauber. Alfa Romeo was only a marketing partner, approving the livery of the cars only. However, the Italian company’s contribution in terms of image and funding has been very important for the “small” Zurich-based team.
In this video, Valterri Bottas, Guanyu Zhou, Kimi Räikkönen, Antonio Giovinazzi, and Charles Leclerc talk about their journey with the team and title sponsor, Alfa Roméo.
