Ruth Buscombe, head of the strategy department, is leaving Sauber
Ruth Buscombe is leaving the Alfa Romeo team. The head of the strategy department announced her departure from the Italian team in Abu Dhabi, during the last Grand Prix of the 2023 Formula 1 season, which took place at the Yas Marina Circuit. In an article published on social media in Abu Dhabi, Buscombe describes it as her final dance.

(I) I am sitting on the Alfa wall for the last time,” the engineer writes. (I) Until the last checkered flag for a place I have called “my home” for the past eight seasons.”
Ruth Buscombe remembers joining the Sauber team at the young age of 26 for her very first season in Formula 1. « After what feels like a lifetime, I am grateful to everyone in Hinwil, past and present, for everything; for the rollercoaster journey since 2016; for the opportunity to grow as a strategist and lead a life where F1 and the paddock truly feel like home. »
She concludes by thanking for the « beautiful memories (especially the 6th place) ». Finally, she expresses her wishes for the « next chapter », which remains to be understood.
Could Scuderia Ferrari be his next destination?
Ruth Buscombe worked closely with Fred Vasseur at Sauber, overseeing the race strategies of young Charles Leclerc. The plan of the Ferrari team manager could be to restructure the internal structure of the Maranello team. Earlier in the year, the Frenchman had already taken a significant step forward by replacing Inaki Rueda with Ravin Jain.
