Sauber reveals more about its F1 2024 and will present it in England
Sauber becomes an independent team again after Alfa Romeo's departure at the end of this season. The fully Swiss team, while waiting for Audi's arrival in 2026, will unveil its 2024 race car in the United Kingdom. A surprising choice considering previous race cars were usually revealed in Switzerland.
For the first time since 2018, the Sauber team will be named as such next year. The Swiss team is no longer supported by Alfa Romeo and will compete under the name of its founder, Peter Sauber, until 2026 when Audi arrives.
During the Autosports Awards ceremony, last December 3rd, Alessandro Aluni Bravi, director of the Sauber team, praised the partnership with the Italian manufacturer that lasted for five seasons. This year, we ended our successful partnership with Alfa Romeo. And for 2024, we will have a different team name. On December 10th, as soon as the FIA publishes the list of participants, we will of course announce the new team name, stated Alessandro Aluni Bravi.
If the former cars of the team were presented in Switzerland, such as the C43 unveiled in Zurich and Hinwil, the headquarters of the team. Sauber will unveil the car that Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu will drive in the United Kingdom. We will have a truly new approach in terms of communication marketing and we will introduce the car in the United Kingdom, announced the director of the Sauber team.
Catching up with the other teams
This year Alfa Romeo finished ninth in the constructors’ championship with 16 points. The team, which is returning to being Sauber, wants to progress before the arrival of the four rings brand. Of course, we are working on the transformation process. We are still a small team, an independent team, but the challenge is great. That’s why we are working to develop every area, every department, the Italian emphasized.
« It’s not just a question of size, it’s also about finding the right people, which is crucial. And the most difficult challenge for us is to find the best professionals and establish the right process. Many things can be bought, but not time. We are aware of this challenge. Managing expectations will be one of the most difficult tasks », concluded Alessandro Aluni Bravi.
