The Alpine season has been very eventful. The team finished in sixth place in the constructor standings with 120 points, 160 behind Aston Martin and 92 ahead of Williams. The only two podium finishes of the season, with Esteban Ocon’s third place in Monaco and Pierre Gasly’s identical position in Zandvoort, are small rays of sunshine for the French team.

The team’s organizational chart has also changed significantly, Laurent Rossi, the CEO of Alpine, has been dismissed from his duties and replaced by Philippe Krief, the former vice-president. Right in the middle of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, from July 28 to 30, Alpine announced the dismissal of Otmar Szafnauer and Alan Permane, respectively the executive director and the sporting director of the blue and pink team. Pat Fry, the technical director, has also left to join Williams.

« I am very happy with my position as team leader »

It is following all these movements that Bruno Famin is appointed director of the Alpine Motorsports group, which includes the F1 team and the Hypercar program in WEC. The Frenchman will retain his role as director of the Alpine team, while waiting for a replacement for Szafnauer. However, the Frenchman wishes to keep his position in the F1 program.

« I’m not a fan of changing an organization just for the sake of changing it. Because we can change the organization however we want and as often as we want, but if people don’t want to work together, then it will never work. It’s rather about understanding how people work well together to get the best performance from each individual for the entire team », explains Bruno Famin.

« It’s not my top priority. The number one task is to ensure that people work together. As far as I’m concerned, I’m very happy with my team leader position and as long as my boss doesn’t tell me to change anything, I’ll stay, » continues the Frenchman.
