Christian Horner doesn’t think he can do as well in 2024 as he did in 2023

The year 2023 was the best in the history of the Red Bull team. Numerous records were broken and the team outrageously dominated the season. However, Christian Horner doesn't think Red Bull will dominate the grid as much in 2024.

21 victories out of 22 races, five successes out of six in sprints, their two drivers first and second in the championship, and a driver and constructor’s championship won with more than double the total points of their closest rival, Red Bull’s 2023 season is historic.

A man, Max Verstappen, will have also broken many records. With his 19 successes in a season, he surpasses his own record of 15 victories in 2022. The Dutchman won ten consecutive races, from the Miami Grand Prix to the one in Italy, at Monza, breaking Sébastien Vettel’s record of nine wins in 2013. He is also the driver with the most points in a season, 575 this year, compared to his 454 points in 2022.

We are always striving for perfection

After this legendary season for the Austrian team, Christian Horner emphasizes his team’s constant desire to progress. None of us could have ever imagined this kind of season, winning 21 out of 22 races, five out of six Sprints, and defending both titles. Beating so many records along the way, some of which date back to 1988, illustrates that all aspects of the team have worked at a phenomenal level.

“The team has evolved, and we are always striving for perfection and constantly seeking to improve, so there are many things that we can improve upon,” says the executive director of the Red Bull racing team.

« It’s not just the design and operation of the car, it’s the production, it’s the support functions, it’s every department, with all the different challenges of the different types of circuits, the conditions we’ve had throughout the year, and the reliability, with Honda offering us an excellent product », analyzes the British.

« All these aspects came together, and it is the most rewarding team performance that I doubt we will be able to achieve statistically again, what we have done this year », concluded Christian Horner.
