The Sauber team will be called Stake F1 Team in 2024
Sauber has been registered with the FIA as Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber for the 2024 season. However, the name of the Swiss team's founder will not appear. The team will simply be called Stake F1 Team.

In 2026, Sauber will enter a new dimension, thanks to the support of Audi, who will take control of the team and provide power units to the Swiss team. Sauber was initially supposed to revert to its original name, which it had until 2017, before being called Alfa Romeo.
The team had registered with the FIA as Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber. This name for the team was only temporary. Indeed, the team led by Alessandro Aluni Bravi will be simply called Stake F1 Team, named after the team’s main sponsor.
Arrived to climb back up
In 2023, Sauber (via Alfa Romeo) finished the season in ninth place in the constructor’s standings with only 16 points. The team was outpaced by Williams and AlphaTauri at the back of the pack. Only Haas, with its meager 12 points, obtained a lower total than the Hinwil-based team.
Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu finished 15th and 18th in the championship. Both teammates are at the end of their contract at the end of the 2024 season, just like 12 other drivers. Sauber might want to replace them with more efficient drivers. Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon are among the names that have been most frequently associated with the future Audi team.
The objective of the German manufacturer is clear: to fight for the championship. However, the task is colossal. The car is far from the performance level of the midfield, and light years away from the top trio: Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari. The four rings brand will have to improve in all areas if they want to add F1 titles to their list of achievements in WEC and Formula E. This will require significant progress from the new Stake F1 Team.
