These records that Norris, Hamilton, and Alonso can surpass in 2024

If the saying is that records are meant to be broken, some are still difficult to surpass. Hamilton's ninth victory on the same circuit, Alonso's longest wait between two wins, or even Lando Norris' highest number of podiums without victories – these are the records that the drivers could exceed in 2024.

Lewis Hamilton has beaten numerous records set by Michael Schumacher. The Briton is the driver with the most pole positions, victories. But in addition to the eighth world title that would make Hamilton the most revered driver in the history of F1, the Mercedes driver could become the most victorious on a single track.

Michael Schumacher has emerged victorious eight times on the Magny-Cours track, while Lewis Hamilton has won the Hungarian Grand Prix and the British Grand Prix eight times each. If either of them win on one of these two circuits this year, the seven-time World Champion will be the only one holding this record.

The longest wait between two victories

It has been 3890 days since Fernando Alonso last won in F1. On May 12th, 2013, in front of his home crowd in Barcelona, the double world champion secured his 32nd and, for the time being, last victory in the premier category of motorsports.

If Alonso couldn’t play for victory during his second stint with McLaren, nor after his return to F1 with Alpine, the bull from Asturias came close to victory with Aston Martin at the Monaco Grand Prix. If the Spaniard wins, he will break the record of six years and 210 days held by Ricciardo Patrese between two victories.

Finally a victory for Norris?

11 podiums in five seasons of F1 while not having the best car on the grid is an impressive statistic for Lando Norris. However, the McLaren driver wants to secure his first victory in the category.

The British driver came very close to success during the Russian Grand Prix 2021. But heavy rain in the final laps and a refusal to switch to intermediate tires while he was leading the race cost him the victory.

For now, Nick Heidfeld is the driver who has achieved the most podium finishes, 13 during his career, without a single victory. It is possible that Lando Norris may surpass him during the 2024 season. Unless the number 4 driver manages to clinch a win and not let the German hold onto this record.
