Oliver Bearman appointed as reserve driver at Ferrari
Member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2022, the 18-year-old British driver has been promoted to reserve driver for the Scuderia Ferrari, alongside his 2024 F2 season. He will step in if Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Shwartzman are unavailable.

Oliver Bearman has been appointed as the reserve driver for Scuderia Ferrari following an impressive rookie season in Formula 2 last year, and his solid performances during the free practice sessions for Haas, in Mexico and Abu Dhabi.
The 18-year-old British driver won the German and Italian Formula 4 titles in 2021, moving up to Formula 3 the following year and finishing third overall in the rookie standings. Advancing straight to Formula 2, Bearman placed sixth in the championship with four wins and three pole positions, but it was his test drives with Haas towards the end of the season that caught the attention.
Ferrari has confirmed that Bearman will be one of the three reserve drivers this season, alongside Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Shwartzman. Since Giovinazzi and Shwartzman are competing in the World Endurance Championship this season, Bearman, who continues in F2 with Prema, will be called upon by the Scuderia when there is a scheduling conflict between F1 and WEC.
Bearman will soon take the wheel of the Ferrari as he will be driving the 2022 Ferrari F1-75 as early as this Wednesday, January 31, at the Barcelona circuit. The Italian team is currently in Spain for the Pirelli tire tests. They will unveil their future car, the SF-24, on February 13th in Maranello.
